- Use an English English Dictionary
- Goggle “Academic Words” in the Internet. They are very useful.
- Play Word Games such as Scrabble, Pictionary, Hangman and Crosswords.
- Have a PenPal Friend.
- Read novels, newspapers and recipes.
- Listen to music and look for de Lyrics. Read them before you listen to the song.
- Watch TV and look for de Scripts. Read them before you watch the TV show.
- Write a story, write a diary or have a Blog.
- Read the newspaper and write down the new words.
- Make a list of new words and before checking in the dictionary try to guess their meaning.
- Find the Etymology of the word and work with the “Family Word Method”: look for the verb, noun and adjective of the same word.
- Make your own sentence with the new word. It is easier if you learn it within a context.
- Write down the new word and draw the meaning of it.
- Repeat 7 times the word in your head.
- Look at Collocations: give us the best words that matches with another word. They go together.
- Learn more phrases rather than isolated words. That is why sentences are important.
