Te quiero mucho y gracias por ayudarme a hacer mi suenio realidad. Espero que pases un lindo dia y aunque no todos podamos estar ahi con vos, sabe que siempre estas en nuestro corazon.
Esta foto fue tomada exactamente un anio atras (Junio 2007). Estabamos todos juntos!!! Todos los polluelos en el nido!!! Que bueno!!! Ojala se repita pronto. Yo desde aqui los extranio mucho. Besos y en unos pocos dias estare por alla nuevamente.

Taste of Little Italy... Parliamo italiano?


Parliamo italiano???

Io sono italiana ma io non parlo niente l’italino. Io parlo l’espagnole e l’englese
Ma me piace molto mangiare la pasta e la pizza.
Io quero parlare esta bella lingua.


I went to “The Taste of Little Italy” Festival last Friday. The Italian community is very big in Toronto and they have they own distinctive area in the intersection of Bathurst and College Street.

I was born in Argentina, in Santiago del Estero. But my great grand parents were born in Italy. Since this country considers that Italian is the one who has Italian blood, I am Italian too. I got the double citizenship last year. So, now I am Santiaguenia, Argentinean and Italian.

However, I feel a little ashamed when I say that I can’t speak a single word in Italian. In fact, I studied Italian one year but it is not enough, I know. However, I love Italian culture; I love pizza, pasta and the tarantella. Hahaha. Moreover, my favourite films is Italian. I can watch again and again “Cinema Paradiso”, “Il Postino” and “La vitta e bella” with the famous phrase "Buongiorno Princepessa”.


I would love to visit the city where my great grand parents were born. One day I will go to Italy but from now just take a look at “Little Italy” and its Festival in Toronto.

The Magazine

Can Fit Pro Magazine can be compared with “Cuerpo y Mente” Magazine in Argentina. However, the Canadian magazine seems to be more focus in the professional job of the fitness instructors and personal trainers. They recognize the activity as “a business”, so there are many articles about marketing, retention and new trends.

Thanks to Julia Hui, from Can Fit Pro, I got the last 3 issues of the magazine. From the last issue, I liked the section “Ask the Experts” and this particular question: What is the best advice or inspirational quote you can offer to group fitness instructors?

The answer:

“No matter what you do or where you do it, always do your best” Colin Miller.

‘Keep moving on. Sometimes, the only way you can move forward and upward in your industry if you let go of the past

And what a coincidence! Today I checked the last issue of “Cuerpo y Mente” and in the from page Daniel Ibaniez said: “Motivar, la ley primera del entrenamiento” (Motivation, the first law in training).

It is true. However, I think that “motivation” is the first and the best rule in any field of Life.

A feel-good-about-yourself story


Po is a Panda bear who loves “Kun Fu”. He is a really big fan and he dreams to be the top kun fu warrior in his land (The Valley of Peace) someday. His father is a duck (we never know why) who wants him to inherit his ‘Noodles Soup” Shop. As Po doesn’t want to disappoint him, he never tells him about his real dream. However, the opportunity to become a warrior appeared when the biggest enemy of the city broke out of jail. Only the Dragon Warrior could safe the city from that enemy. Fulfilling an ancient prophecy, the Dragon Warrior was supposed to be chosen from the whole population. And guess what? Po was the one!. And he started to learn Kun Fu with the Master Shifu and the lengendary “Furious Five”, his idols. But there was a little problem: Po was fat, incompetent and nonflexible. Moreover, nobody was happy with the Sensei's election and nobody believed that Po could be the Dragon Warrior. Although Po was looked as the “anti hero”, he had two powers: his passion and his enthusiasm. He only needed to believe in himself. “Believe”, what a powerful word.
His Kun Fu Master as well as the Five Warriors wanted him to give up. However, Po knew that a real warrior never quits. “You not belong here”, “This is not your place” everyone said making Po feeling really upset. And do you know what a weak soul do when he feels upset? He eats. “I eat when I am upset” Po said. Hahaha. It’s not only me!
Nevertheless he received a good advice from the Sensei: “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift. You have to believe in yourself and you will be surprised of what you really can do”. If you believe in yourself, you can do anything. Believe in yourself and just be you. There is no more secret ingredient in the noodles soup’s recipe than that. Believe in it and it will be.

Eugenia is sitting in "The Speaker's Chair" in the fake Chamber because we couldn't go to the real one. They were discussing very serious issues and did not want to be bothered.

I made a new friend. Her name is Luna. She is from Korea.

The hot weather here reminds me to wear sunscreen and the sunscreen reminds me this song:

If I could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be it. The long-term benefits of sunscreen have been proved by scientists, whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience. I will dispense this advice now.

Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth. Oh, never mind. You will not understand the power and beauty of your youth until they've faded. But trust me, in 20 years, you'll look back at photos of yourself and recall in a way you can't grasp now how much possibility lay before you and how fabulous you really looked. You are not as fat as you imagine.

Don't worry about the future. Or worry, but know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubble gum. The real troubles in your life are apt to be things that never crossed your worried mind, the kind that blindside you at 4 p.m. on some idle Tuesday.

Do one thing every day that scares you.

Sing.

Don't be reckless with other people's hearts. Don't put up with people who are reckless with yours.

Floss.

Don't waste your time on jealousy. Sometimes you're ahead, sometimes you're behind. The race is long and, in the end, it's only with yourself.

Remember compliments you receive. Forget the insults. If you succeed in doing this, tell me how.

Keep your old love letters. Throw away your old bank statements.

Stretch.

Don't feel guilty if you don't know what you want to do with your life. The most interesting people I know didn't know at 22 what they wanted to do with their lives. Some of the most interesting 40-year-olds I know still don't.

Get plenty of calcium. Be kind to your knees. You'll miss them when they're gone.

Maybe you'll marry, maybe you won't. Maybe you'll have children, maybe you won't. Maybe you'll divorce at 40, maybe you'll dance the funky chicken on your 75th wedding anniversary. Whatever you do, don't congratulate yourself too much, or berate yourself either. Your choices are half chance. So are everybody else's.

Enjoy your body. Use it every way you can. Don't be afraid of it or of what other people think of it. It's the greatest instrument you'll ever own.

Dance, even if you have nowhere to do it but your living room.

Read the directions, even if you don't follow them.

Do not read beauty magazines. They will only make you feel ugly.

Get to know your parents. You never know when they'll be gone for good. Be nice to your siblings. They're your best link to your past and the people most likely to stick with you in the future.

Understand that friends come and go, but with a precious few you should hold on. Work hard to bridge the gaps in geography and lifestyle, because the older you get, the more you need the people who knew you when you were young.

Live in New York City once, but leave before it makes you hard. Live in Northern California once, but leave before it makes you soft.

Travel.

Accept certain inalienable truths: Prices will rise. Politicians will philander. You, too, will get old. And when you do, you'll fantasize that when you were young, prices were reasonable, politicians were noble and children respected their elders.

Respect your elders.

Don't expect anyone else to support you. Maybe you have a trust fund. Maybe you'll have a wealthy spouse. But you never know when either one might run out.

Don't mess too much with your hair or by the time you're 40 it will look 85.

Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it. Advice is a form of nostalgia. Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

But trust me on the sunscreen.

Extreme Heat Alert and The Cooling Center... Cool!


Toronto Public Health has declared an Extreme Heat Alert for Toronto today, Monday June 9, 2008.

Under an earlier heat alert system, the City of Toronto called an alert when the "humidex" exceeded 40°C for two or more consecutive days. The humidex was devised by Canadian meteorologists to combine temperature and humidity into one number to reflect the perceived temperature.

Heat Alerts and Extreme Heat Alerts are called when an oppressive air mass is forecast, and the likelihood of deaths may increase due to high temperatures and other factors. During an Extreme Heat Alert there may be more weather-related deaths because the heat has become more severe or is lasting longer.

When a Heat Alert is called, Toronto's Response Plan triggers the following actions:


  • more than 900 individuals and community agencies work with vulnerable populations;
    a 12-hour help line answers heat-related inquiries from the public and responds to requests;

  • emergency preparedness is enhanced, as required for any other alert or emergency response (e.g., ambulance, police);

  • delivery of bottled water is coordinated for vulnerable groups.

In addition, when an Extreme Heat Alert is called:

  • recreational facilities extend their hours of operation;

  • community cooling centres are opened and transportation to these centres is provided, as required

The summer is here and believe me: It's hot!!!

You need to use sunscreen because the sun burns you face. People start dressing very summerly: T-Shirts, sleveless shirts, shorts and sandals. They like going out and enjoy outdoors activities. I don't like this weather!!!But if I remember the temperature in winter and the snow, I don't have to moan about it.
